Baba Baidyanath Temple
The reason Deoghar exists as a pilgrimage town, Baba Baidyanath Temple is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple complex hums with devotion from dawn, and the tradition of tying the Baidyanath and Parvati temple shrines with a sacred thread (gathbandhan) is unique to this dham. It's just 1.5 km from Shri Nath Palace.
Naulakha Mandir
A short distance from the main temple, Naulakha Mandir is an elegant, tall temple that recalls the architecture of Belur Math in Bengal. Its name comes from the roughly nine lakh (naulakha) rupees said to have been spent on building it. Dedicated to Radha–Krishna, it's a peaceful and photogenic stop.
Trikut Pahar (Trikutachal)
About 14 km from town, Trikut Pahar is a three-peaked hill famous for its ropeway, which carries visitors up for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. There's a Trikutachal Mahadeva temple and, nearby, associations with the sage Dayananda. It's the most popular half-day excursion from Deoghar.
Tapovan Caves
Roughly 10 km out, Tapovan is a hill of caves and small temples linked to the sage Balananda Brahmachari, who is believed to have meditated here. Pilgrims climb to the Taponath Mahadev temple and explore the caves — a quieter, contemplative counterpoint to the busy main temple.
Nandan Pahar
Close to the centre (~2 km), Nandan Pahar is a small hill with an amusement park, temples and lovely sunset views over Deoghar. It's an easy, family-friendly evening outing after a day of darshan.
Punasi Dam
Around 30 km from Deoghar, Punasi Dam is a simple, open-air picnic stop for families who want a quieter break outside the temple circuit. Local travellers visit for sunrise, sunset and waterside views, and the dam is also important to Deoghar's water supply. It works best as a relaxed half-day drive rather than a rushed stop between temples.
Shivganga & Satsang Ashram
Shivganga is a large sacred pond near the temple where devotees traditionally bathe before darshan. A little further out, the Satsang Ashram — headquarters of the Satsang spiritual movement founded by Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra — is a calm, well-kept campus that draws followers from across the country.
Basukinath Dham

Sultanganj & Ajgaivinath Temple
Sultanganj, in Bihar, is where many kanwariyas begin the Shravan pilgrimage.
